News Update So. Cotabato fast-tracks infra projects

GENERAL SANTOS CITY - The Provincial Engineer's Office (PEO) of South Cotabato is fast-tracking the implementation of more than P200 million worth of infrastructure projects that are targeted to be completed by the end of this year. The PEO said the projects were implemented under the continuing community infrastructure development program of the provincial government of South Cotabato here which is awarded by the local government to various contractors last year until early this year. "These are projects that were identified as among the priority development investments of the provincial government since last year," Generosa Capundan, assistant provincial engineer of South Cotabato, explained. The ongoing projects include road repairs and rehabilitation, construction of bridges and farm-to-market roads, Capundan said. Capundan said the municipality of Banga got the biggest share of the ongoing projects with at least 20 projects ongoing and worth P37.8 million, followed by T'boli with 12 projects worth P33.7 million, Koronadal City with 21 projects worth P29.4 million, Lake Sebu with 11 worth P20.5 million, Norala with seven worth P19.2 million, Sto. Niño with nine worth P12.3 million, Tantangan with eight worth P9.2 million, Tamapakan also with eight worth P12.2 million, Polomolok with eight worth P7.8 million, and Tupi with five projects worth P3.5 million. A list from the PEO's Construction and Maintenance Division also showed that other small infrastructure projects were implemented by the PEO worth P4.3 million. "The construction of these projects is currently in full swing and we expect them to be completed by December," Capundan added.
