At least 15 members of a family traveling to Pangasinan were injured after a minibus they were riding on figured in a freak accident along the Manila-Cavite Expressway before dawn Sunday.

Radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported the family was on its way to Manaoag in Pangasinan to fulfill a religious vow when the accident occurred.

Among the injured were Irene Camarillo, her son Erwin and her daughter Thelma who had recently arrived from Japan.

A family member said they came from Rosario, Cavite on their way to the Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine, which they promised to visit once a member of the family returns from abroad.

An initial police report showed the minibus carrying the family was cruising along the Manila-Cavite Expressway when the driver swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle.
