News Update Philippine President names new military chief

Baguio City (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN) - Philippine President Benigno Aquino III announced Sunday that Lieutenant General Eduardo Oban would be the incoming chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

�I have no doubt that he is capable of continuing the reforms that General David had started. I hope that General Oban serves as an inspiration to the members of the Laon Alab class,� Aquino said.

The President announced the appointment of Oban, the third highest ranking official in the AFP in his speech before 196 graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

Oban will replace General Ricardo David who is retiring on March 8.
