News Update Filipinos in Yemen urged to leave anew

MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos in Yemen are once again being urged by the Philippine Embassy to go home as the situation in that country becomes more tense.
The Filipinos are encouraged to avail of the Philippine government’s voluntary repatriation program, which has been in place since Yemen was put under crisis alert level 3 last May 24.
In a press release, the embassy said Filipinos should consider sending their minor children and dependents back to the Philippines while there were still commercial flights available.
“We strongly urge Filipinos in Yemen to keep in regular contact with their families and friends in and outside of Yemen to keep them updated on their status and conditions,” said Ezzedin Tago, Charge d’Affairs of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.
Filipinos who wish to be repatriated can contact the embassy in Sanaa or Aden. The OFWs should ensure that their passports are valid, and that they have a no-objection letter from their employers.
Filipinos whose passports are missing, withheld by their employers or who have overstayed are advised to contact the embassy for a possible issuance of a one-way travel document to the Philippines.
OFWs with exit visas should submit their passports to the embassy for their booking. They are encouraged to have luggage and important documents at the ready.
