News Update Oro businessman abducted

A BUSINESSMAN from Cagayan de Oro was abducted Monday morning inside his establishment in Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City.
Five armed men on board a red Mitsubishi Adventure abducted Manny Boniao, owner of Peoples Agri Service and Supply, at around 10:30 a.m.
Initial police investigation showed that three of the five suspects went inside the establishment and asked the security guard if Boniao was around while two other suspects waited outside.
Police Superintendent Roy Magsalay, station commander of Agora Police Station, said the security guard let the three go inside Boniao’s office believing they were policemen. Two of the three suspects were wearing a blue Police Patrol t-shirt.
Magsalay said the suspects forcibly took Boniao into the vehicle.
The security guard failed to help after his shotgun was taken by one of the suspects.
Some employees said Boniao resisted but was helpless because the suspects pointed a .45 caliber pistol at him.
The victim managed to call his wife, who was in a separate office, but lost consciousness upon seeing her husband forcibly taken by the three suspects.
Police Superintendent Danildo Tumanda, chief of the City Public Safety Company of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, said they are yet to determine whether the motive is kidnap for ransom.
Tumanda said he believed the suspects are still in the city because all police stations, including Misamis Oriental have been alerted and have set up checkpoints in all entry and exit points to track them down.
The kidnapping happened even as police were deployed in the city in line with Monday’s transport holiday.
