COMMANDER DIPOLOG CITY (PIA) - First Infantry Tabak Division Commanding General, Major General Ricardo Rainier Cruz III has installed the new Commanding officer of the 101st Infantry, Three-Arrows Brigade based at Del Pilar, Zamboanga del Norte. In a simple ceremony held recently at the Brigade's headquarter Col. Amadeo Foster Azul officially assumed as the new Commanding Officer of 101st IB, replacing OIC Brigade Commander, Col. Glenn Macasero. Macasero was designated as Officer-in-Charge of the Brigade last October 2, 2012 after former Brigade Commander Jet V. Belarmino was assigned to the Special Operations Command, based in Cavite. Azul, a member of Philippine Military "Matikas" Class of 1983, was the former Chief of Staff of the 7th Infantry Division based in Nueva Ecija prior to his appointment as the 101st Infantry Brigade Commander. BUILDING CODE OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) - The local government has taken steps to strengthen implementation of Presidential Decree No. 1096, otherwise known as the National Building Code of the Philippines. This, as the City Engineer's Office has acted on the concern on the numerous wiring installations mounted by the different utility service providers, on the electric posts owned by the Misamis Occidental Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOELCI II) located in the urban areas of the city, as well as, the diggings done by the Misamis Occidental Water District (MOWD). PLACEMENT TEST OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) - The Department of Education (DepEd) will administer the Philippine Education Placement Test (PEPT) in Mindanao on Nov. 25, 2012. The PEPT will be administered through the National Education Testing and Research Center (NETRC) in Luzon on Nov. 18, 2012, a Sunday and in the Visayas and Mindanao areas on Nov. 25, 2012, also a Sunday, per DepEd Order No. 26, s. of 2012. A battery of academic tests, the PEPT is used to assess knowledge, skills and work experience acquired by school drop-outs or out-of-school youths (OSYs), school leavers and over-aged in-school youths (ISY's), which are credited for academic equivalency. DAVAO WATERSHED DAVAO CITY (PIA) - The city government will conduct a survey to define clearly the expanse of watershed areas in the city, according to Christoper Asibal, forester and deputy chief of the City Environment and Natural Resources. He told reporters that the survey is part of the implementation of the Watershed Code, a policy that protects the drinking water source of the city. The Watershed Protection, Conservation and Management Ordinance No. 0310-07 of Davao City covers eight watersheds namely, Lasang, Sibulan-Sirawan, Panacan-Bunawan, Talomo-Lipadas, Davao River, Matina-Pangi, Tamugan-Panigan and Malagos. DANCE WINNERS COTABATO CITY (PNA) - Two pre-school Tausog children from Sulu bested other children of their age in a cultural dance showdown in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). The regionwide cultural dance show was part of the ARMM's observance of National Children's Month in October. .
