News update 52 hurt as bus falls off canal in Baguio


MANILA, Philippines – A total of 52 people were hurt after a tourist bus fell on its side and landed in a canal in Baguio City, a police official said today.

Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor, Benguet provincial police director, said the accident happened on Marcos Highway in Badiwan, Baguio City, around 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

In a radio interview, Mayor said the vehicle lost its brakes while speeding along the highway.

He said the passengers were on their way from a seminar in Baguio City to Taguig City when the accident happened.

The police official said rescue teams managed to respond immediately to the scene and brought the victims to the hospital.
