Criminal charges have been filed before the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) against the female secretary of a manpower firm who allegedly duped four individuals aspiring to land jobs in Dubai.
Accused of syndicated illegal recruitment and estafa on four counts in five separate information filed by Assistant City Prosecutor Lea D. Llavore was Sarah Nadine M. Rachid, a resident of Blk. 1 Lot 14, Villa Sta. Ana, Pedro Gil St., Sta. Ana, Manila. Llavore set no bail for her provisional release.
The charges stemmed from the complaints filed by Hazel Pepito, a resident of Block 39, Sitio Batasinb, Floodway, Taytay, Rizal; Carlo Leonin, of Barangay Poblacion West, Kaesperanzaan, Sta. Maria, Pangasinan; Dhalia Macauna, of 1473 Alley 7, Sitio Gitna Kaybiga, Caloocan City; and Rogel Lanozo, a resident of 8 Lanozo St., Sto. Rosario, Malabo Misan, Valenzuela City.
Leonin and Lanoza claimed they had been made to believe by the accused that she was engaged in recruiting carpenters for Dubai while Pepito and Macauna said they had been promised deployment as saleslady and cleaner in the United Arab Emirates.
From June to August 2009, the four applicants claimed to have paid Rachid between P13,000 and P15,000 in recruitment and processing fees.
According to the complainants, Rachid did not issue receipts but merely listed the payments in the logbook.
They alleged that despite the payments made and repeated demands, Rachid failed to deploy them as promised The complainants said Rachid, who claimed to be an influential staff of an international manpower firm in Malate, Manila, also refused to return their money
