MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested two men who were caught in possession of illegal drugs and firearms in a checkpoint in Batangas province, an official said today.

Senior Superintendent Alberto Supapo, Batangas provincial police director, said Rio Abello Landicho, 41, a tour guide; and Ian Abello, 23, a plant vendor, both of Talisay, Batangas, have been nabbed at a checkpoint along the national highway of Brgy. Aya around 4 p.m. yesterday.

Initial report said the two men, who were riding in tandem on a black motorcycle (2956-WE), were flagged down by policemen manning the checkpoint.

During the random check, Landicho yielded a cal. 38 revolver with six live ammunitions while Abello was caught with a small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
