A lawmaker recently filed a bill that seeks to secure welfare assistance, social protection, adequate treatment and long-term care for AIDS victims. House Bill 5312 would allot P400 million to create a new National HIV and AIDS plan and boost The Philippine AIDS Prevention and Control Act of 1998, author and LPG Marketers’ Association party-list Representative Arnel Ty said in a statement Thursday. “We have very high hopes Congress will act favorably and with all deliberate speed on proposed new legislation that will boost the war on HIV/AIDS,” said Ty of the Comprehensive AIDS Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support Policy and Plan Act. Senator Miriam Santiago has filed a counterpart measure —Senate Bill 3072 — at the Senate. http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story
