Three crew members of an oil tanker were each jailed two months on Friday for stealing more than 3,000 litres of diesel from their employer.
John Paul Fajardo Beltran, 24, Quirico Jr Caguimbaga Capayan, 30, both Filipinos, and Afdhal, 36, an Indonesian, admitted to stealing diesel with a market value of $5,579 from Sentek Marine & Trading at Tuas Anchorage on Aug 26.
The trio were on board bunker Shengtek when they stole 3,588 litres of petroleum to sell to a tugboat moored alongside.
The court heard that Capayan passed a diesel hose from Shengtek to one of the four crew members of the tugboat. He agreed to sell diesel at $910 per metric ton, equivalent to 1,180 litres.
