Kopi Talk Luxe pieces for easy living

MANILA, Philippines -- When looking for luxurious pieces to match their grandiose homes, lady luminaries like Liza Minnelli and Elizabeth Arden turned to the late American artist and whimsical decorator Tony Duquette. Back then, Duquette's home designs were only available for those who can afford to commission them, making each design a unique piece of art.
But today, living in luxury isn't just about lounging on lavish pieces of furniture; it's also about quality and comfort that suits every individual's lifestyle needs. This is the focal point of the recently concluded BLIMS Fine Furniture's 2012 Luxe Living Collection at The Gallery in Greenbelt 5.
In celebration of its 35th anniversary, the four-day exhibit featured BLIM's newest, limited edition Tusk Collection, Royal Oak Collection, and the Amphibious Series. According to BLIMS business development manager Sam Gregory Lim, each collection matches different tastes and preferences of affluent go-getters, without sacrificing design, quality construction and comfort.
Inspired by the ''high life,'' each piece from the three collections was hand-picked by BLIM's design consultant Jie Pambid to showcase luxurious and distinct pieces that can provide every home the look and feel of abundance, elegance and splendor.
''Most people think that luxury comes with the price tag, which is not always the case. You can get meticulously designed, quality pieces without spending hundreds of thousands. Also, luxe living is dependent on one's lifestyle. Are you living in a condo or in an executive subdivision? Do you have children or are you a bachelor? Luxe living isn't just expensive; it's comfortable too,'' Lim said.
The Tusk Collection offers a mix of industrial and natural material with a distinctive design detail that is great for any space. It's an international design that's rustic yet contemporary, sleek yet practical.
Royal Oak, on the other hand, is a clean, eco-friendly series made from sustainable materials, exuding style and comfort at a level that will complement with the natural beauty of wood.
Lastly, the Amphibios Series is a lush concept defined by attention to details coupled with a true sense of style and glamour. Its features are a combination of cast wooden base and chrome legs which creates a chic and contemporary look.
''For this collection, we are offering a very different BLIMS,'' said Pambid. ''We've been known as the trendsetters when it comes to modern contemporary furniture and this time we push the boundaries even further with pieces that haven't been seen in the Philippines as far as textures, furnishes, fabrics and color combinations are concerned.''
Pambid continued: ''The amphibious collection is a very reptilian look because we are offering furniture made from synthetic crocodile leather. Tusk is very rustic and modern, while Royal Oak is just royally clean, classic and eco-friendly.''
