A gunman supposedly on a "mission" shot dead a broadcaster in Palawan province Monday morning in the latest incident of violence against media in the country.

Radio dzBB's Palawan affiliate reported that a gunman shot Gerry Ortega, a host for Radyo Mo Nationwide (RMN)'s Palawan station dwAR.
The incident occurred before noon Monday at a congested area in San Pedro village in Puerto Princesa City.
Police managed to arrest the suspected gunman, who was not immediately named. Initial police reports described the suspect as from Taguig City.
