CORDOVA, Cebu - Some 72 Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers in Central Visayas have expressed commitment to support the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE)'s job facilitation plan. This avowal of support for said plan was made during the group's annual planning workshop at this town's Alta Cebu Village Garden Resort. DoLE 7 Regional Director Elias A. Cayanong said each province in the region was duly represented in the workshop which also discussed accomplishments, good practices and future plans of the agency on how to improve local employment facilitation programs. Cayanong disclosed that the annual group workshop collects outputs of PESO partners which will serve as a guide on how to assist and improve service delivery, technical and logistical support, employment facilitation and generation thrusts. "We are overwhelmed by their show of support as their accomplishments speak of how they helped facilitate employment and how they promote youth employment," he said. He added that PESO managers serve as guides for the youth on what course to take up in college and where to apply for employment after graduation.

"Our PESO Managers in Central Visayas are active, supportive, intelligent and empowered," he said. Cayanong also cited the support of local officials who believe in the agency's thrust to help improve the lives of their constituents. The DoLE 7 top official also pointed out that PESO managers in the region have adequately helped in achieving the agency's employment facilitation goals through Jobs Fairs, Special Programs for Employment of Students (SPES), Skills Registry System (SRS), career guidance and coaching, and labor market information. "These programs give us a good chance to improve our current unemployment situation because we know that our PESO Managers are both active and passionate in helping the public," Cayanong stated in his speech during the workshop. For their part, Cayanong pledged to be more visible in the field, particularly in terms of providing technical assistance in the grassroots level.
