News Update Fall from tree proves fatal for mango trader

SAN GABRIEL, La Union, Philippines - A 59-year-old trader died after he slipped and fell off a mango tree which he climbed in Barangay Bumbuneg here last Thursday. Police identified the victim as Alfredo Dacumos, 59, a mango trader and a resident of barangay Bumbuneg, San Gabriel, La Union. Initial police investigation showed the victim climbed a mango tree in his plantation to remove rotten branches. While doing his usual work, he accidentally slipped from one of the branches and fell 20 feet to the ground. Dacumos reportedly banged his head on the ground resulting to multiple fractures in the different parts of his body. The victim was immediately rushed by concerned residents to a nearby hospital but he expired several hours later from the injuries. Relatives of the victim were saddened by his untimely demise, saying that they did not expect him to die from the accident. (Dexter See, Freddie Lazaro)
