MANILA, Philippines - Launched on a day considered by geomancers as lucky was the luxe home store dubbed W/17. The store was born out of my dear friend social entrepreneur Kaye Tinga who works as the store's "director for social enterprise." She has partnered with interior stylist Andy Vásquez-Prada, who wants to help Filipinos learn the basics of customizing luxury and elegance for the home through mixing and matching furniture and accessories. Customers can expect a showcase of the best in both East and West with pieces that are made from world-class materials and boast of ingenious designs.
For this project, Vásquez-Prada will be bringing his style and design philosophy to help customers create a sophisticated home. Vásquez-Prada's love for interior styling started at an early age, with his mother, Mari Cris Vásquez-Prada mentoring him. He then took up Interior Design at the Philippine School for Interior Design, and then specialized in interior styling at the Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in the United Kingdom. He then put up his own trading company and would later join Rustan's home division as curator from 2004 to 2011.
Vásquez-Prada says W/17 also takes to heart the value of social responsibility by ensuring that it stays true to fair trade principles and help local communities who are into furniture-making.
W/17 is located at 2241 La Fuerza Compound along Chino Roces (formerly Pasong Tamo) in Makati City.
