News Update PAGASA sees improved weather condition

MANILA, Philippines - State weather forecasters said improving weather condition is expected Tuesday as the low pressure area (LPA) that brought rains over most parts of the country last weekend had dissipated.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the LPA last spotted east of Dipolog City dissipated Monday morning.

PAGASA weather forecaster Mikos Peñaranda said the rains that affected Northern and Central Luzon, including Metro Manila, last Monday was due to the convergence of northeast monsoon and easterly winds."Improving weather condition is expected this Tuesday. Scattered light rains will affect Luzon, and isolated thunderstorms in the Visayas and Mindanao is expected," Peñaranda explained.

He noted that a brewing weather disturbance east of Mindanao is also being monitored by PAGASA. "Thick clouds that are still outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) are likely to develop into a low pressure area (LPA) this week," Peñaranda said.

"If the weather disturbance maintains its direction, we can expect rains over Northern Mindanao and Eastern Visayas by Wednesday," he added.
