Cavite Gets P22M For Agriculture


MANILA, Philippines - Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso J. Alcala has given away P22 million for infrastructure, processing facilities and inputs for agricultural projects in Cavite. Alcala turned over the assistance to 1,000 farmers, fisherfolk and officials led by Governor Juanito Victor C. Remulla, Jr. during a provincial forum on May 18, 2012 in Trece Martires City. The assistance covered the following: A P5-million small water impounding project for Poblacion, Carmona; a P5-million farm-to-market road (FMR) project for Barangay Kaytambog; a P3.4-million aquasilviculture project for Cavite State University (CavSU); a P3-million diversion dam for Tambong Kulit, Indang; a P2.5-million coffee roasting facility for Amadeo; a P1.2-million 90-HP 4-wheel drive tractor worth P1.2 million for the Cavite provincial government; a coffee processing facility worth P500,000 for Silang, and; various farm implements and inputs worth P 492,600. The DA chief also raffled off several farm implements and inputs to lucky forum farmer-participants. Alcala encouraged Cavite farmers to expand their operations to increase production of major crops and vegetables, noting the province has relatively good climate and soil, and is adjacent to Metro Manila, a strategic major market.
