..Critics of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino will push through with their protests, rain or shine, as the chief executive delivers his third State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Thousands of rallyists are expected to converge near the Batasang Pambansa, while at least 6,000 cops from the National Capital Region Police Office will be deployed for Civil Disturbance Management, crown control, and traffic operations, according to PNP.
Aquino will deliver his third SONA on Monday, July 23 at the House of Representatives.
Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) said protests will also feature a gigantic Aquino effigy conceptualized by UGATLahi Artist Collective: "the Batman comic villain with a half charming, half menacing face riding atop a bulldozer".
“Having two faces means being deceptive. That is what this government has excelled in the past two years,” said Crisanto de Leon, chair of UGATLahi, in a statement.
Malacanang is still mum on Aquino's third SONA theme, but has already asked the public for "contributions."
Earier this week, the Office of the President has created a website where netizens can post their own SONAs.
Meanwhile, MMDA has issued a traffic rerouting scheme for Monday.
