ROSELYN Pascua, who came here from the Philippines about three weeks ago to visit relatives and friends, was found stabbed to death early on Monday in a room in Peony Mansion on Bencoolen Street.
A resident in a nearby room heard suspicious sounds coming from the room and alerted the caretaker at about 3am.
Ms Pascua's door was not locked and he saw her bloodied body lying face-up on the floor.
Police were called at 3.20am and found that Ms Pascua had been stabbed several times in the chest. They have classified the case as murder.
Police also issued an alert to taxi drivers to look out for three Filipino women and two Thai men to assist in the investigations.
Police declined to say if the murder weapon was recovered.
Some of the three-bedroom apartments in Peony Mansions have been partitioned into eight rooms each, which are then rented out to budget travellers and Singaporeans from $25 a day
Mr Ching Fok Wah, 58, who was manning the fish soup stall at the coffee shop on the ground floor of the building, said that Ms Pascua was pretty and friendly. 'It's so tragic she died,' he said.
