News Update Cousin admits killing Davao trader

DAVAO -- A cousin of a 23-year-old businessman who was found dead on a subdivision road in Buhangin surrendered to police and admitted the crime Wednesday morning.

The self-confessed killer, Arielito Bendigo, 32, is a member of the Special Cafgu Active Auxiliary and driver of the Task Force Davao.

He went to the Investigation Detection and Management Branch of the Davao City Police Office to only clear his name but admitted the crime instead when eyewitnesses identified him.

The eyewitnesses were there to submit their sworn statements. Bendigo was detained immediately after he was identified.

The victim, identified as Elricson Kevin Chan Uy, a resident of Kilometro 13, Barangay Panacan, was found dead in the middle of a road at Sun City Subdivision, Barangay Communal, Buhangin District around 1 p.m. Sunday.

The suspect later admitted that he had a heated argument with Uy over the unremitted sale of the victim's vehicle, which Bendigo sold for P180,000.

He said they were riding Uy's Pajero when they were arguing over the P80,000 that he has not handed over to Uy.

Bendigo also claimed that Uy stopped at Sun City to get a bolo from the vehicle's trunk and that he only defended himself.

The suspect added he brought the vehicle to Barangay Camansi, Toril where authorities found it on Monday.

The suspect is presently awaiting formal charges before the court. (Alger Dura/Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
