MANILA, Philippines - A drunk policeman was arrested Sunday night after he ran amuck and barged into two houses, including that of a Philippine National Police official, in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.
SPO1 Mark Vincent Uy, of Barangay Pasong Tamo, and his companion, Michael Sulao, were charged Monday afternoon before the city prosecutor for multiple counts of grave threats and malicious mischief. Uy is assigned with the Quezon City Police District-Station 6.
Senior Inspector Edilberto Nicanor, deputy head of the QCPD-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the incident happened at past 7 p.m. on Sunday along McArthur and Magsaysay streets in Barangay Pasong Tamo.
Uy was reportedly armed with a handgun while Sulao had a bolo. The two allegedly barged into the house of Superintendent Myrna Lombao, 55, who is assigned with the health office of the Police Regional Office 3.
Lombao and her family were having dinner when Uy, accompanied by Sulao, suddenly entered her house and started pointing his gun at her and her family. Lombao immediately called policemen to arrest the two.
Uy was reportedly celebrating his birthday at his home with Sulao among his guests. A drunk man vomited and fell in front of his house. Four men had tried approaching the unidentified man to see how they could help him but Uy appeared and approached the unidentified man to check if he was injured.
After Uy told them not to interfere, he allegedly grabbed one of the men and pointed a gun at him. The four men ran away when Uy started shooting at them. He allegedly chased them until he barged into the two houses. - By Reinir Padua
