News Update Sen. Trillanes shares life lessons to LPU-B graduates

MANILA, Philippines - Senator Antonio "Sonny" Trillanes recently urged graduates of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas to use adversities as stepping stones to success during the 2012 LPU Award of Excellence rites at the campus' SHL Freedom Hall.
Trillanes spoke to the top students and organizations and reminded them not to let failures hinder their goals and ambitions. He also urged Lyceans to use these challenges to strengthen character and values to make them better persons.
"It is right to focus on our strengths but we should always be reminded that we are given such blessings to be an instrument for someone else's comfort and happiness," the senator said.
Japan, ADB provide grant for preschool classrooms
The Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have provided a $1.5 million grant for the construction of 60 preschool buildings in southern Luzon and western and central Visayas.
Another US$2.04 million will be financed by the Department of Education (DepEd) and private partners led by Aklat, Gabay, Aruga Tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Foundation.
The grant aims to provide child-friendly preschool classrooms and quality programs to help poor children attain and complete their elementary and secondary education. The project will also provide a school feeding program and livelihood support for the parents.
AGAPP Foundation is the DepEd's designated partner in achieving universal preschool coverage and will build fully equipped preschool classrooms and libraries, train preschool teachers, and conduct research on effective preschool programs. It will also mobilize partnerships and resources to fund those inputs and implement the activities.
