Filipino Chinese Friendship Village Rises

The General Consul of the People's Republic of China, His Excellency Zhang Wei Guo, (center with corsage) recently inspected the second batch of 150 houses imported from China which are now in their final stages of completion. This is part of the 300 houses that were earlier pledged by the Filipino Chinese Community in Cagayan de Oro for typhoon Sendong victims who lost their dwellings last December 2011.
Briefing General Consul Zhang is Greg Lao (in eyeglasses), the General Secretary of the Filipino Chinese Community who manages the construction of the houses. Also shown in photo together with the entourage are dignitaries from the Chinese Progressive Masons Club of the Philippines, Past President Chi Kai Hui, President Ronald Ko, and Yang Jian Xin. Shown at far left in the background is the Working Committee Member Tomas C. Sia (in checkered polo) interviewing one of the beneficiaries of this housing project.
The group is happy with the progress of the construction and urges the government to expedite the site development component of the Calaanan Relocation site in Cagayan de Oro City. As a legacy to the efforts of the Filipino Chinese Community, this part of the relocation area will be known as the Filipino Chinese Friendship Village
