The Food Hygiene Course is aim to impart all participants to have the knowledge and skills, in the food and beverage safety and hygiene policies and procedures and able to raise the food hygiene standards and apply them to the workplace. I still remembered as saying goes "Good Hygiene, Better Business 卫 生 好 ,事 业 更 好"
As requested I will try to add in some handy tips for the general readers of what I had picked up learn along the way.
Sign of foods Spoilage to prevent food poisoning like
- Odour - Rotting and decaying food smell differents from the normal odour so use your nose more often.
- Discolouration - Food maybe discoloured by microbial growth like spores on bread, mound found on fruits or "prutas". Imagine a bread left for few days and you will get the picture.
- Souring - is usually produced by acid producing micro-organism eg sour milk.
- Gas- When meat become spongy and canned food is bulging or blown can is being contaminated by bacteria or yeast as a by products. Henceforth, can food must be discard immediately,of course read the label for expiration date also.
FOOD SPOILAGE TABLE (origin unknown)
MEATIf opening the refrigerator door causes stray animals from a three-block radius to congregate outside your house, the meat is spoiled.
CANNED GOODS
Any canned goods that have become the size or shape of a basketball should be disposed of. Carefully.
DAIRY PRODUCTS
Milk is spoiled when it starts to look like yogurt. Yogurt is spoiled when it starts to look like cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is spoiled when it starts to look like regular cheese. Regular cheese is nothing but spoiled milk anyway and can't get any more spoiled than it is already.
THE GAG TEST
Anything that makes you gag is spoiled (except for leftovers from what you cooked for yourself last night).
