Armed forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Eduardo Oban on Friday said former military comptroller Maj. Gen. Gacia, convicted of violating two articles of war, is already in the AFP's custody.
"We effected the implementation of the [court martial's] order this morning (Friday)... and he was taken to the Intelligence Service of the AFP where her will be detained," said Oban.
On December 3, 2005, the court martial found Garcia guilty of violating Article of War 96, or conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman; and Article of War 97, or conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline.
According to Oban, Garcia was sentenced with two years in prison with hard labor and discharge from service, and that the sentence was recently approved by President Benigno Aquino III. — LBG
