CAGAYAN DE ORO -- Police authorities recovered on Wednesday the vehicle used by gunmen who abducted businessman Manny Boniao in this city last Monday.
City police chief Gerardo Rosales said the suspects repainted the red Mitsubishi Adventure sports utility vehicle with black using Pylox, a brand of automotive paint.
Police operatives found the abandoned vehicle around 4 a.m. at Sitio Langga, Barangay San Vicente in Sumilao, Bukidnon near Kulaman Bridge, he said. The vehicle was towed to the Maharlika headquarters, Rosales said.
Recovered at inside vehicle were six blue police uniforms and four bull caps with logo of Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon), a blue sleeveless shirt with bloodstain, 22 cans of acrylic spray paint, three hot lacquer thinner, one roll green adhesive tape, one brown leather wallet and one spare tire cover.
Police could not determine if the sleeveless shirt belongs to Boniao.
Manhunt continues as of Wednesday as police have no lead as to where the abductors brought Boniao, Rosales said.
Earlier reports said Boniao was brought to Lanao del Sur province and that the kidnappers are demanding P100 million as ransom. Rosales said they are still verifying the report.
Five gunmen on Monday seized Boniao, owner of People's Agri Service and Supply in Gusa village, and brought to an undisclosed location.
Witnesses said the SUV used as getaway vehicle bore the plate number SEZ-205 but police later found no records of the vehicle at the Land Transportation Office. (Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro/Sunnex)
