MANILA, Philippines - Various government agencies operating at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) said Wednesday that they are ready to provide "quality" airport services this Holy Week as they expect to see thousands of travelers passing through their terminals.
NAIA general manager Atty. Melvin Matibag said help desks will be operational in all NAIA terminals 24/7 to extend ready assistance to passengers and other airport users.
He also announced the deployment of new buses being shared by some private sector outfits to enhance the airport's free shuttle service around the airport complex.
"My team's primordial concern is to, as much as possible, help lessen if not totally remove the stresses that weary travelers experience during these busy times," he said in a statement.
"One of our thrusts is for airport users to have a pleasurable stay while at the country's gateway. Services that we are extending are all aimed at their comfort and safety," added assistant general manager for airport development and corporate affairs Tirso Serrano.
NAIA has implemented a "No Leave, No Day Off" policy in all of its units working during the rest of the Holy Week. A 12-hour shifting schedule will also be adopted by the Airport Police Department to ensure police visibility at all times.
The agency added that traffic mobile cars and uniformed men will also be deployed at strategic intersections of the airport's main thoroughfares to ensure a smooth flow of vehicular traffic. Aside from Christmas, NAIA considers the Holy Week as a peak season as far as increases of passenger volume is concerned.
