CEBU CITY - The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has expressed its intent to collaborate with the Cebu City Government in helping the latter reduce its workload in processing of business permits.
According to CCCI President Samuel Chioson, outsourcing the work to the private sector would be advantageous since the sector has a wider database and coverage of network information.
''As a private entity, we are committed to efficiency and transparency. If this plan works, it will become a benchmark in private sector-LGU partnership in the country,'' Chioson said, as he bared plans by CCCI to formalize the proposal with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.
He added this will help promote transparency and efficient in the processing of new business permits and renewals. Already, the chamber has drafted a mechanism on how to materialize this plan.
The CCCI will create its own team to manage the business permit renewal and releasing department, and it will also seek support from the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and human resource experts to create a credible team on this venture.
Chioson said the Camber will soon formulate a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the matter which it shall present to the Cebu City Council for comment.
The initial plan would be for the city government to course through the CCCI renewable and new business applications so that the City Hall's work load on this matter will be lessened and efficiency and speed are assured.
