News Update Guv steps in to end vampire tale in Cotabato

DOCTORS were examining a young man who people claimed was bitten by a vampire in Barangay Cana-an, Antipas, Cotabato province.

Cotabato Governor Emmylou Talinio Mendoza, after receiving an appeal from the victim's family, has ordered the Provincial Health Office to examine one Ramil Evangelista as allegations that he was bitten by a vampire is hard to believe.

However, according to Rico dela Peña, Evangelista's friend, the victim turns into a vampire every Friday and when the moon is full.

Dela Peña relates that each time this happens, the victim is possessed by an evil spirit, fangs appear in his mouth, his nails grow long and he exhibits extraordinary strength.

Evangelista allegedly scratched a neighbor with his long nails and the neighbor is now reportedly afflicted with the same strange illness.

Neighbors believe an old woman bit Evangelista last December 17, 2010, and turned him into a vampire. The victim reportedly started acting strange since then.

Health experts believe that the victim could have been bitten by a rabid dog or afflicted with another form of illness.

Residents in the area now fear that the victim's illness will be transmitted to them. (EF)
