Regal Films matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde celebrated her 72nd birthday last night in style – with a grand party at her Imperial Palace Suites, Quezon City, and a donation of P500,000 to the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund).
Mowelfund Chair Marichu Maceda received the donation in the presence of Executive Director Boots Anson-Roa, members of the press, Remy Monteverde, Mother Lily’s husband, Roselle Monteverde-Teo, Mother Lily’s daughter, Regal stars and other guests.
Boots thanked the Regal matriarch and said, "Kapag said na ang pondo, dumarating ang grasya."
Mowelfund helps defray the cost of its members sickness, disability and accident expenses. It also gives monetary aid to the family of a member who passes away.
"If there’s one thing I learned in my life, it’s that money cannot make you happy. You cannot bring material things with you to the next life, di ba?" Mother Lily said in her speech.
She was dressed in a fuchsia blouse and pants, while most of the members of the press sported red outfits prosperity.
A short AVP chronicling Regal’s long history was shown, with some of the guests – like Nora Aunor, who will do 'Hototay' for her Regal comeback, director Joel Lamangan, German Moreno, Ethel Ramos, Ronald Constantino giving short speeches about Mother Lily.
The trailer of Regal’s next movie, 'My Neighbor's Wife,' starring Carla Abellana, Dennis Trillo and Lovi Poe, was shown.
Among the other stars spotted in the party were Sen. Bong Revilla, James Yap, Paulo Avelino, Jillian Ward, Ricky Davao, Toni Gonzaga with boyfriend Paul Soriano, Ritz Azul, John Lapus, Baron Geisler, Ruffa Gutierrez and her mother, Annabelle Rama.
