News Update Another mine firm explores Cordillera

MORE mining explorations extend toward rural areas not only in Benguet.
The Cordillera Exploration Co. Inc. (CExCI) will explore mineral resources of Kalinga and Apayao these coming months.
CExCI Communication Relations Manager Danzel Langkit revealed the company’s plans during a press conference at the Mines and Geosciences Bureau last April 3.
He said the company already has a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement and also acquired the Free Prior and Informed Consent four years ago from the two provinces. He added they will start their drilling operation soon this month or May.
“As of now, we are making roads in partnership with the local government units of Kalinga and Apayao as the road will pass through Kalinga then to Apayao,” said Langkit.
He added they are doing their promises to the communities like giving of community development assistance worth P250,000 to affected barangays of the towns.
In Kalinga, the company will soon explore barangays Tawang and Buwaya, both are under the tribe of Buwaya. On the other hand, there are three barangays to be explored by the mining company.
Langkit revealed there are around 7,000 hectares wherein the company will operate on it.
He added the CExCI is a subsidiary company of Nickel Asia Corporation. It is a former subsidiary of the Anglo–American Company but later bought by the Nickel Asia Corporation on November 2010.
The company was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 19, 1994. It is primarily engaged in the business of large-scale exploration, development and utilization of mineral resources.
CExCI has a number of mining properties at various stages of exploration, all located in the central Cordillera area of Northern Luzon. The registered office address of CExCI is at 7th Floor, NAC Centre, 143 Dela Rosa Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City.
