DAVAO CITY -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) submitted to the Mayor Sara Duterte a list of drug personalities in the city, which include a policeman and a former soldier.
Duterte, in news conference Monday, said the policeman has a rank of Police Office 2, the second lowest rank in the Philippine National Police.
She said the list also include government employees and businessmen who have military connection. She did not reveal the names.
"Those are all I took note of in the PDEA list. I didn’t see names of government officials except for the former soldier, the policeman, and the businessmen," Duterte said in vernacular.
She said PDEA in Davao Region periodically submits reports to her office, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), and Task force Davao (TFD).
Duterte said the random drug tests at the City Government would continue until her term ends in 2013. She said she wants all City Hall departments free of drug users and drug dependent employees.
"It's automatic termination for an employee proven to be involved in illegal drugs," she said.
She encourages private companies to conduct the same test on their employees to identify employees involved in illegal drugs.
Duterte said she already requested PDEA to continue its operation and build a case against persons involved in illegal drugs.
Emerson R. Rosales, PDEA-Davao Region officer in charge, said the agency has arrested 209 persons, 18 of them are minors, since January this year. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
