News Update Arroyo, husband arrive from HK after 2-hour delay

After a delay of more than two hours, former President and Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and husband Jose Miguel Arroyo arrived late Wednesday night from Hong Kong.

But the former First Couple's son and Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Arroyo told dzBB’s Manny Vargas Thursday they may go back to Hong Kong for Mr. Arroyo's treatment. "Life-threatening talaga yan. Nakaswerte si Atty. Mike nung 2007, kaya sabi ng doctor kailangan siguraduhin nila (His condition is life-threatening. He was lucky to survive in 2007. That's why his doctors want to make sure this time they treat him right)," said Rep. Arroyo, who welcomed the former First Couple at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The Arroyos were scheduled to arrive on a Philippine Airlines PR-307 flight at the NAIA Terminal 2 at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

But bad weather conditions in Hong Kong caused a two-hour delay in their arrival. The former First Couple’s grandchildren and spokesperson, former Presidential Management Staff head Elena Bautista-Horn, were also at the airport to welcome them.

Rep. Arroyo said doctors are trying to make sure a much lower chance for his father’s acute aneurysm to recur.

He said some medical facilities for the treatment of his father’s condition can be found in some places in Hong Kong. The former First Couple went to Hong Kong last week, with Mrs. Arroyo snubbing her successor Benigno Aquino III's first State of the Nation Address.

During their stay in Hong Kong, they had to put up with militants who picketed in front of the hotel they were staying. — LBG
