News Update Binay among politicos greeting Iglesia ni Cristo on its 96th anniv

He may not have gotten its endorsement in the last election, but Vice President Jejomar Binay led political figures in greeting the influential Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on its 96th anniversary Tuesday.

Binay took out an ad in a major Metro Manila newspaper to send his "warm greetings" to the religious group. The INC did not endorse Binay for vice president in the last election. Instead, it endorsed Liberal Party bet Manuel Roxas II.

On the other hand, other political figures also took out even bigger – and more expensive – newspaper ads to greet the INC on its anniversary.

Among those who took out full-page ads greeting the INC were Caloocan City mayor Enrico Echeverri; Cavite Reps. Irineo Maliksi, Roy Loyola and Joseph Emilio Abaya; Rep. Elpidio Barzaga and family. GMANews.TV Meanwhile, radio dzXL reported Tuesday traffic will be rerouted Tuesday afternoon near Rizal Memorial Complex in Manila to make way for the INC's celebration.

Authorities are to close P. Ocampo Street's east- and westbound lanes from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue.

Likewise expected closed are parts of Adriatico Street from P. Ocampo to Quirino Avenue. — LBG,
