News Update 2 college students shot dead in Marawi City

Two college students of the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur province were gunned down in broad daylight on Saturday in front of the school. Police Senior Inspector Annie Rose Alvarado, spokesperson of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) police, identified the victims as Mark Anthony Ticson, 21, and Ever Sosillo, 19, both engineering technology students and residents of Barangay Rapasun-Sikap in Marawi City. Alvarado said the victims were on their way home from a nearby computer rental shop when two unidentified assailants, a man and a woman, fired at them in front of the MSU tennis court at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The suspects were on board an owner-type jeep and were able to escape, according to Alvarado.

Ticson sustained a gunshot wound on his back while Sosillo was shot in the head. Both died on the spot, Alvarado told GMANews.TV, citing a police report. Alvarado said a 9mm-caliber pistol was used in the shooting based on the empty shells recovered from the scene. The police have yet to identify the identities of the suspects and the motive for the killing “There was no altercation. The suspects suddenly fired at them. Investigation on the suspects’ motives is ongoing," Alvarado said. - Jerrie M. Abella/KBK,
