News Update All safe after Kidapawan blast

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A strong grenade explosion rocked a Moro-dominated village here while residents were preparing to break the fast, around 10 p.m., on Thursday. The grenade exploded inside the compound of Barangay Patadon-East Councilman Satar Manalundong, police reports said. No one, though, was hurt in the explosion, but the splinters hit the gate and the front portion of Manalundong's house and the nearby farmers' hall.

Manalundong said they were busy preparing food after fasting the entire day when they heard a loud explosion. He speculated that the incident could have been related to the voters' registration for scheduled Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. The bombing took place hours after Manalundong had a heated argument with a village official inside the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office, here. Manalundong called on the Comelec officials not to allow non-residents of Barangay Patadon-East to register. He said he also asked the local Comelec to purge the names of those who registered as voters but are actually residents of Barangay Dinaig in Datu Odin Sinsuat town. (Malu Manar)
