News Update Surigao del Norte gov wants entrepreneurship taught in schools

Surigao del Norte Gov. Sol Matugas has sought the attention of the Education Department in the region to include entrepreneurship in basic education curriculum, particularly in secondary education.

The local executive said teaching students to become entrepreneurs will lessen the dropout rate of schools in the region.

Matugas cited that many progressive countries in the world today offer young people a variety of opportunities for education — one of which is entrepreneurship.

Matugas earlier called for a meeting with top Education officials of the province, asking them to devise an education road map.

The road map aims to cut the dropout rate to zero in all levels of education. Matugas has been formulating strategies to bolster the education system in the province. —Ben Serrano/JE
