President Benigno Aquino III shared a light moment with members of the Philippine media who have covered his United States working visit since Monday last week.
"Bata pa tayo (We are still young)," government-run Radyo ng Bayan quoted Mr. Aquino as saying when he encouraged Manila-based journalists to keep up with his pace as the Philippine delegation made its way from New York to San Francisco, California.
The delegation is scheduled to return to the country at 3 a.m. this Tuesday.
Mr. Aquino on Saturday capped the New York leg of his visit by meeting with US President Barack Obama and other world leaders. He said he and Obama talked for seven minutes, and agreed to hold more lengthy talks in the future.
He also attended a leaders' meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and US (ASEAN-US), and addressed the 65th United Nations General Assembly. In his speech, Mr. Aquino pushed for a global version of Filipino People Power to battle inequality and promote equitable progress in the world.
In San Francisco, the President is set to visit the Renewable Energy Testing Center (RETC) at Landing Parkway, Fremont, California. He will also tour the High Technology Facility of Integrated Microelectronics, Inc. (IMI) Energy Solutions, in Fremont, California.
The President and the Philippine delegation are scheduled to have lunch at the Season’s Marketplace, a mall complex that houses Filipino restaurants. He is also scheduled to attend the Philippine Development Forum Gala at the Fairmont Hotel. —With Sophia Dedace/VS
