BAGUIO CITY - At least 15,000 local and overseas jobs are up for grabs during the conduct of a two-day jobs fair at the Baguio Convention Center here which will run from September 29 to 30, 2010. Out of the total jobs at stake, 5,900 job openings are intended for local employment while 8,900 others are for overseas employment in various parts of the global village. Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan said 17 local companies and 10 overseas placement companies have confirmed their participation to the jobs fair which will be instrumental in proving employment opportunities to city residents as well as those coming from the other parts of the Cordillera and Ilocos regions.
The jobs fair is sponsored by the city government of Baguio, through the public service employment office, and the Department of labor and Employment (DoLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) as well as the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), all in the Cordillera region. Domogan said the jobs fair is the culminating activity of the city's month-long celebration of its 101st founding anniversary as a chartered city. The participating local companies include Sitel, Texas Instruments Philippines, Digital, Sanyo, Nople Trends, Greenwitch, Sunshine Supermart, Sutherland NCO, Sagittarius Mines, Inc., PLDT, Kintetsu, Summit Bank, Prime Hotel, ISONN Marketing, SC Laranang General Merchandising and General Construction and Ines International Academy.
