News Update Signal number 1 up in NCR, other areas

The Philippine weather bureau announced that the low pressure area seen west of Metro Manila has turned into tropical depression.

The agency said the tropical depression named "Dodong" is carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near its center. It is now moving north, northwest at a slow pace of 15 kilometers per hour, the agency said through it website.

By Friday morning, the agency said Dodong will be 210 kilometers west of Laoag City.

The agency has raised signal number 1 in Bataan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Pangasinan, Cavite and Metro Manila.
