Just Ask - Bringing generator from Singapore to Philippine

Hi Vincent

The generator set from Singapore you cannot hand carry it to Philippine effective immediately, they will no longer be accepted by Philippine Airlines as checked-in baggage for safety reasons. Even though is for charity purpose.

PAL will carry generator sets only as cargo, in accordance with regulations on handling of dangerous goods issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

For fast delivery, generators may be shipped through RHUSH (Rapid Handling of Urgent Shipment), PAL's highest priority, airport-to-airport express cargo service.

PAL cargo staff are better trained and equipped at handling the shipment of generators, rather than airport baggage handlers.

Passengers are advised to plan in advance the shipment of generators instead of checking them in as regular baggage.

In the past, some TV news teams had insisted on checking in generator sets which they supposedly need immediately upon arrival at their destinations.

When not properly handled, generators can produce fumes from fuel residue even when drained of fuel that can pose a safety threat to passengers and the aircraft.

For details on how to avail of PAL RHUSH cargo delivery service, shippers may call PAL Cargo Reservations at telephone nos. 832-3059 and 831-3061, or visit the PAL website at www.philippineairlines.com
