MANILA - AN AMERICAN man has been arrested in the Philippines for allegedly drugging and raping a teenage girl, police said on Thursday.
Scotty Brown, from Mississippi, was arrested after an 18-year-old student claimed she blacked out after he gave her a drink at his house on Sunday, said Chief Superintendent Roberto Damian.
'When she regained consciousness she found Mr Brown on her having sexual intercourse against her will,' said a statement released by Supt Damian, the chief of police in Cagayan province, where Brown was living.
Police raided Brown's rented home in the northern town of Lallo a day later and seized three tablets of ephedrine and other regulated medicines, Supt Damian said.
Brown has not yet been charged but he could face life in jail if found guilty of rape, a police spokesman in Manila said.
Police gave no further details about Brown. A US embassy media spokesman said she did not immediately have details of the case. -- AFP
