Kopi talk The Lim in Philippine?

Hi gemma I still remembered when I was in Manila one of my foreigner buddy would mentioned that Senator Alfredo Lim as “Dirty Harry” Lim who are the Mayor of Manila because he had reputation and was notorious for embarrassing drug pushers by spray-painting their houses as part of a shame campaign. So in Philippine you have the high profile Lim in the arena of politics.

Alberto Lim seems to be moving in the right direction of attracting high-end lavish spenders. The idea is fresh in Philippine as for Singapore they had already grasp the concept to convert Singapore as a playground for the rich and famous. Some of the top notch property are often snap up by celebrities like Jackie Chan, etc Recently, in the news one China businessman paid 36 million for a property in Sentosa clove.

I had friends in property line reveal to me that those top notch foreigner Millionaire or Billionaire were buying premier property in area like Orchard, Sentosa. One important thing that attract the Millionaire or Billionaire to Singapore is not buying a piece of property as investment, the most important aspect is buying a peace of mind without the benefit of doubt that their family would not be kidnapped for ransom, transparency of rule and regulation to protect their intellectual property right.
No dispute to attract the bee you need sweet honey, beside the upscale shopping mall, bar, casino or hotel Heck, they might also own some of the hotel or property.

When we need something we take a car, private transport to SM supermarket for the Billionaire like Mr Stanley Ho, who is Macau's Gambling King, sent his personal jet to pick up 88 durians from Singapore  http://class95cafes.blogspot.com/2010/07/news-update-singapore-tycoon-sends-jet.html

That  figure ! if they are damn rich the "world is my oyster" so why the rich are attracted to Singapore a small island ? if they have the money probably they could buy one. The Maslow's hierarchy of needs say it all and some business sense, calculated risk and stability of the Politics without the "hanky panky' business. Imagine the potentiality of having 7107 islands as an investor real estate and playground !

Alberto Lim, tall and intense, is now at the helm of the glamorous, often coveted Department of Tourism. I am delighted he accepted the presidential appointment and judging from his first press interview, Sec. Alberto Lim will re-orient the thrust of Philippine tourism.

Rather than concentrate on body count, the Secretary will focus on increasing revenues generated and earned by the tourism sector.

In other words, he would much rather lure a handful of high- end lavish spenders who markedly boost the GDP than multitudes of backpackers.

Why not? It's the receipts that count. Unfortunately, that idea is beyond the grasp of many, many honorables in the House of Representatives who cannot imagine how less could ever amount to more.

Strikingly, Secretary Lim mentioned the ''open skies'' policy another prickly issue. For decades, civil aviation policies have been kept in deep freeze, impossible to liberalize.

I hope Secretary Lim sparks the thaw that will crack our skies open. But narrow-minded monopolies shudder at the mere thought that perhaps conjures macabre images of airplanes flying in like a veritable plague of locusts darkening the heavens. Any mention of ''open skies'' will of course provoke a flurry of white papers accusing Alberto Lim of everything heinous including treason. I am sure he will laugh it off.

The Secretary also stressed the value of cultural and historical tourism, the cutting edge we Filipinos fear to use to full advantage. He said we should set up more museums where we can display precious artifacts instead if keeping these in storage boxes and dusty crates.

How refreshing, Bertie! You can count on my unconditional support.(gemma601@yahoo.com)
