News Update 2nd low-pressure area enters RP territory

2nd second low-pressure area (LPA) entered Philippine territory Saturday afternoon, and threatens to bring rains to parts of the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the two LPAs are off Palawan in Western Luzon and Batanes in Northern Luzon.

"The whole country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms," Pagasa said in its 5 p.m. bulletin.

However, it did not say if the two LPAs would intensify into a cyclone.

As of 2 p.m. Saturday, Pagasa said the first LPA was estimated at 170 km northwest of Palawan.

It said the second LPA was estimated at 320 km north of Basco, Batanes.

Pagasa said moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the southwest to southeast will prevail over Palawan and coming from the southeast over Northern Luzon.

Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the southeast with slight to moderate seas.—JV,
