News update 6 mediamen rescued in Bataan

Six mediamen covering the maritime incident in Limay, Bataan were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after their hired motor boat capsized in the area Saturday morning. Coast Guard-Bataan Station Commander Lieutenant Senior-Grade Geronimo Tuvilla said that the team of ABS-CBN reporter Niko Baua and GMA-7 reporter Emil Sumangil were onboard a hired boat vessel and only 30-meters away from the shoreline of Limay when the vessel lost its stability until it finally capsized.

The two teams have just finished doing a report on the two motor tankers that sank off Limay at the height of typhoon Basyang. ''Malapit na sila halos sa shoreline then may reported na may mga gumalaw or tumayo sa bangka kaya nawalan ng stability until nag-capsized na nga yung vessel.

(They were near the shoreline when a passenger either moved or stood up, that's why the boat lost its stability,'' Tuvilla said. Coast guard personnel escorting the reporters and their crew members were rescued. Tuvilla said that all the media personnel were wearing safety life vest when the incident happened. Baua explained in a radio interview on DZMM that most of their belongings were damaged, particularly the video cameras and cell phones.
