MANILA, Philippines – Policemen and personnel of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) clashed with informal settlers at a compound in Quezon City during a demolition in the area.
Violence marred the demolition around 12:30 p.m. today as residents of the compound in Sitio San Roque, Brgy. Bagong Pagasa, North Triangle threw stones on the oncoming demolition crew.
After a few minutes, policemen from the Eastern Police District chased the men inside the compound.
Fire trucks have also been deployed to help in clearing the area. - By Dennis Carcamo
