News Update Bukidnon begins Kaamulan festival

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon (PIA) - Despite the drizzle in most part of the province, people and tourists witnessed the opening of Kaamulan Festival in Bukidnon last Friday. Bukidnon Indigenous Cultural Affairs Office Chief Russel Aquino said the celebration began with a solemn prayer giving thanks to the "Magbabaya" (deity) for the year's bountiful harvest and other blessings. The traditional ritual and cultural offerings will run from Feb. 18 to March 10. Bukidnon Gov. Alex Calingasan announced that the main events include Kaamulan Rodeo, livestock and poultry show, agri-fair, garden show, food fest, and Kaamulan bazaar, displaying indigenous products made in Bukidnon. Provincial Tourism Officer In-Charge Keenie Peralta said there will also be an eco-adventure sports like 1st Mount Kitanglad international ragged mountain race, moto trail riding and off-road challenge, shoot fest competition, Kaamulan adventure race, Bukidnon Mountaineering clean and climb, mountain bike competition, drum and lyre competition, football festival, ethnic music and dance clinic
