News Update Traders give P500,000 to Cebu Zoo

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PNA) - A Chinese business organization, which has more than a thousand members in Cebu City has donated P500,000 to the Cebu City Government for the rehabilitation of Barangay T. Padilla and the Cebu City Zoo. Members of the Cebu United Xinhua Business Association handed the cheque bearing said amount to Mayor Michael Rama. The check will be under the custody of the Parks and Playground Commission. Dr. Librado Macaraya of the Commission said he will wait for the proposal on how to use the money. Foundation earns role model award CEBU CITY, Cebu (PNA) - Cebu-based Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) received a public relations award for its unique heritage awareness program showcasing Cebuano history, culture and tradition. The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) recognized the "Gabii sa Kabilin (Night of Heritage)," an annual program wherein museums in Cebu City open their doors to visitors until midnight.

PRO 8 holds tree-planting activity TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) - To underscore the significance of the 25th EDSA People Power Anniversary on February 25, the officers and men of the Philippine National Police Regional Office No 8 (PRO8) conducted a tree planting activity recently. Indigents, elderly given medical aid ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) Access to health care of the indigents and older persons of this city is being given a boost with the free medical check-up organized by Iloilo City Councilor Jason Gonzales through his free clinic program. Gonzales transformed his office into a clinic for the free medical consultations and services being conducted every Tuesday and Thursday. Gonzales' office is at the second floor of the Iloilo Terminal Market Building. Scheduled every Thursday is a free medical consultation for the city's indigents from 1 pm to 5 pm while a free blood sugar testing for senior citizens is conducted every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 4pm. Iloilo celebrates Women's Month ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) - Women, advocates and other stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the Forum on the Reproductive Health and Women's Empowerment on March 4, 2011. The forum to be held at 2 pm at the University of the Philippines Auditorium Iloilo City Campus will kick-off the International Women's Month celebration this March in this city spearheaded by the Ugsad, the Regional Gender Resource Center of Western Visayas and the UP Visayas Gender and Development Program.
