CAGAYAN DE ORO -- At least eight schools in Northern Mindanao are facing closure this year for failing to meet the guideline set by the Commission on Higher Education (Ched), an official said.
Ched Regional Director Zenaida G. Gersana said that aside from non-compliance with guidelines set for tertiary education institutions, the schools were also offering obsolete programs.
"These schools don't even have enrolment for the past years, so we decided to request the school managements for closure," she said.
Without naming the institutions, Gersana said these schools offer only Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, a course offering that Ched considers as "not in demand."
